- The basic requirement of each style of taijiquan is to move slowly, relax the body, and practice deep breathing. Taking Chen-style taichi as an example, once the form is mastered, the practitioner will then practise with the “abdominal reverse-respiration”, which involves the contraction of the abdominal as one inhales, and the expansion of the abdominal as one exhales. This helps in increasing the vital capacity, and also aid in exercising the stomach.
- In taiji, the practitioner uses the waist to lead the body. When doing the form, the body relaxes, the movement is slow and gentle, power contracts and releases during different points of the form. The muscles, ligaments, joints, blood vessels, channels and collaterals of the body stretch and contract, allowing the heart and vessels to have a good regularity of exercise. Also, taiji cultivates the chi in the body. Chi is an energy that helps to simulate blood circulation, so a long-time practitioner of taijiquan will have sufficient amount of chi and excellent blood circulation.
- Taijiquan moves in circles. When doing the form, tajjiquan practitioners use the waist to lead the body. This not only aids in the overall bodily function, but also brings health benefits to the organs around the waist such as prostate gland and the reproductive organ system.
- Taijiquan is an exercise for the whole body, not only on the outer physical body, but also the internal organs. Compared to the other forms of exercises that train only specific muscles, taijiquan is a more comprehensive exercise. Practising taiji for a long period of time also helps to control emotions, leading to a healthier psychological state of mind.

Mr. Lim Teck Hing - 12th Generation Successor of Chenjiaguo Taijiquan - 林德興 新加坡人,毕业于前南洋大学。
1976年开始学习太极拳,曾向多位太极拳名师学习,计有朱天才老师、冯志强老师、陈小旺老师、周树生老师、潘淑仪老师、李承祥老师、苏自芳老师、谢存灼老师、与黄开营老师等。1997年蒙朱天才老师收为入室弟子。
多次参加国内外的太极拳观摩与交流表演,先后四次到太极圣地陈家沟浸濡学习。
曾任新加坡陈式太极拳协会理事,精武体育会董事与太极教练。现任武术总会之武术裁判。
2002年,由公职退休后,更积极的参与太极拳的传授与推广工作。
Mr Lim Teck Hing, Singaporean, graduated from Nanyang University (Nantah).
Mr Lim Teck Hing started his taijiquan journey since 1976 with a few teachers, which include (all names in hanyu pinyin): master Zhu Tian Cai, master Feng Zhi Qiang, master Chen Xiao Wang, master Zhou Shu Sheng, master Pan Shu Yi, master Li Cheng Xiang, master Soh Zi Fang, master Xie Chun Yun, master Huang Kai Ying, etc. He became a formal disciple of master Zhu Tian Cai in 1997.
Mr Lim took part in many international & local taiji demonstrations and competitions. He had been to the Chen Village (Chenjiagou) in Henan Province four times to better master the art of taijiquan.
Mr Lim held the post of committee member at the Singapore Chen Si (Style) Taiji Association. He also was the director and instructor at Singapore Chin Woo Athletic Association. Mr Lim is now a wushu judge of the Singapore National Wushu Federation (SNWF).
Since his retirement in 2002, Mr Lim had been more actively involved in the teaching and promotion of Chen-style taijiquan.

Taiji For Health is designed by Dr Paul Lam, a physician from Australia. It combined mainly movements from Sun style and Yang style, easy-to-learn, safe and effective.

The Health and Benefits of Taijiquan
Taijiquan brings about wonderful health benefits, and is especially effective in treating chronic diseases. Besides burning cholesterols and building muscles, which other exercises do as well, practicing taiji brings about other unique health benefits.
